VERSE OF THE DAY
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. -- Genesis 1:1

THOUGHT OF THE DAY
Time is of the essence. Our lifetime on earth has a beginning and an end. Therefore, the time that we have is a precious resource. When we know how to invest our time wisely, time will reward us with handsome dividends. Time can be a friend or foe, a gateway or a barrier. Using time wisely, on a daily basis, allows time to flow smoothly and constructively. Prudent and productive time management, allows us to maximize the benefits of *THE POWER OF TIME*!!!

BIBLICAL QUOTE OF THE DAY

DAILY BIBLE READING
10 Oct: 2 Chronicles 4-6
11 Oct: 2 Chronicles 7; 1 Corinthians 4-6
12 Oct: 2 Chronicles 8-10
Today: 2 Chronicles 11-12; 1 Corinthians 7

PROVERB OF THE DAY
Believers are not sinless, but they should sin less.
Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. -- Prov 4:14

ENCOURAGEMENT
There is a sense of exhilaration that comes from facing head-on the hard truths and saying, "We will never give up. We will never capitulate. It might take a long time, but we will find a way to prevail."

POINT TO PONDER
The world wants your best but God wants your all.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. –Mark 8:35

BIBLE STUDY
Subject: Jobs (Effort, Service, Work) Part 1 of 9
How does God want us to view our jobs?

Bible Reading: Ruth 2:1-23
Key Bible Verse: And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house. –Ruth 2:7

We should approach even the smallest job with faithfulness. Ruth's task, though menial, tiring, and perhaps degrading, was done faithfully. What is your attitude when the task you have been given is not up to your true potential? The task at hand may be all you can do, or it may be the work God wants you to do. Or, as in Ruth's case, it may be a test of your character that can open up new doors of opportunity.

VERSE OF THE DAY
Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. -- John 3:28-29

THOUGHT OF THE DAY
Creation is beautiful. Nature presents creation in a most enthusiastic and enjoyable way. Each time we experience the wonderful world of nature, we experience something new and refreshing. A walk along the beach, camping in the forest, hiking along the river, a trip to the desert, running through wheat fields, exploring the tide pools on the coastline, having a picnic in the park, are some of the activities that provide memorable moments with nature being the host. Nature's creation instills inspiration and admiration, that comes gift wrapped in a *PRISTINE PARADISE*!!!

BIBLICAL QUOTE OF THE DAY
Hanani, the seer, said to King Asa of Judah, "For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars."---2 Chron. 16:9

BIBLE QUESTION
Who was the first king to be buried in Samaria?
Answer tomorrow
Answer to yesterday’s question: Who moved the bones of Saul and Jonathan to their final burial place?
Answer: David (2 Samuel 21:12-13)

DAILY BIBLE READING
11 Oct: 2 Chronicles 7; 1 Corinthians 4-6
12 Oct: 2 Chronicles 8-10
13 Oct: 2 Chronicles 11-12; 1 Corinthians 7
Today: 2 Chronicles 13-16

PROVERB OF THE DAY
When you meet temptation on the road of life, keep to the right.
Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away. - Prov 4:14-15

ENCOURAGEMENT
Aim at the sun and you may not reach it; but your arrow will fly far higher than if you had aimed at an object on a level with yourself.

POINT TO PONDER
Only when we have knelt before God, can we stand before men.
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. –1 Peter 5:6

BIBLE STUDY
Subject: Jobs (Effort, Service, Work) Part 2 of 9
How does God want us to view our jobs?

Bible Reading: Ruth 2:1-23
Key Bible Verse: And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house. –Ruth 2:7

Our work is an important way to develop character.  Ruth's life exhibited admirable qualities: she was hardworking, loving, kind, faithful, and brave.  These qualities gained for her a good reputation, but only because she displayed them consistently in all areas of her life.  Wherever Ruth went or whatever she did, her character remained the same.

VERSE OF THE DAY
But charge Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him: for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shalt see. -- Deuteronomy 3:27b-28

THOUGHT OF THE DAY
Hope is the propellant that keeps us going. We can have hope when it comes to people, situations, goals, and other things. The important thing to remember is to always have hope at all times, in any given situation. Hope expands our vision beyond the immediate time and space. New horizons, new avenues, and new opportunities come into view when we have hope. In addition, hope gives us the strength to keep going. Our positive dimensions are expanded exponentially with the power of hope, because *HOPE OPENS UP A UNIVERSE*!!!

BIBLICAL QUOTE OF THE DAY
John said, "For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things."---1 John 3:20

13 Oct: 2 Chronicles 11-12; 1 Corinthians 7
14 Oct: 2 Chronicles 13-16
Today:  2 Chronicles 17-19; 1 Corinthians 8

PROVERB OF THE DAY
Within your heart keep one still, secret spot where dreams may go and, sheltered so, may thrive and grow.
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. ---Prov 4:23

ENCOURAGEMENT
"To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe."

POINT TO PONDER
A Christian must keep the faith, but not to him or herself.
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear. –1 Peter 3:15

BIBLE STUDY
Subject: Jobs (Effort, Service, Work) Part 3 of 9
How does God want us to view our jobs?

Key Bible Verse: And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house. –Ruth 2:7

Whatever the task, our attitude should be consistent. Your reputation is formed by the people who watch you at work, in town, at home, in church. A good reputation comes by consistently living out the qualities you believe in–no matter what group of people or surroundings you are in.

VERSE OF THE DAY
Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen. -- Ephesians 6:24

THOUGHT OF THE DAY
The golden rule keeps us on course. By practicing the golden rule, on a daily basis, we establish and maintain a spirit of unity and harmony among family members, fellow co-workers, and community neighbors. Peace of mind and clear direction are just some of the benefits of practicing the golden rule, which states, "Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you." The sun shines brighter and life is more rewarding, when we make it a rule to live *THE GOLDEN RULE*!!!

BIBLICAL QUOTE OF THE DAY
The Shulamite maiden said. "Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned."---Song of Songs 8:7

BIBLE QUESTION

PROVERB OF THE DAY
Keep your heart with all diligence
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. ---Prov 4:23

ENCOURAGEMENT
"There is nothing in which people more betray their character than in what they laugh at."

POINT TO PONDER
Motivation is when your dreams put on work clothes.
And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men. –Col 3:23

BIBLE STUDY
Subject: Jobs (Effort, Service, Work) Part 4 of 9
How does God want us to view our jobs?

Bible Reading: Nehemiah 3:1-32
Key Bible Verse: Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests, and they builded the sheep gate; they sanctified it, and set up the doors of it; even unto the tower of Meah they sanctified it, unto the tower of Hananeel. –Neh 3:1

Our attitude towards work impacts others. Note that the high priest is the first person mentioned who pitched in and helped with the work. Spiritual leaders must lead not only by word, but also by action. The sheep Gate was the gate used to bring sheep into the city to the temple for sacrifices. Nehemiah had the priests repair this gate and section of the wall, respecting the priest' area of interest and at the same time emphasizing the priority of worship.

VERSE OF THE DAY
Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee. – Jeremiah 10:7

THOUGHT OF THE DAY
The personal touch comes in many forms. All forms of the personal touch produce positive results and enhance a better community, whether it be family, local, or global. A personal touch may include sharing quality time with someone, writing a letter to someone special, calling someone on the telephone, helping someone through a crisis, participating in a worthwhile project, offering some helpful advice, and much more. There is power and wonderment in the *PERSONAL TOUCH, WHICH MEANS MUCH*!!!

–Neh 3:1

Our work should be done in an attitude of service to God. All the citizens of Jerusalem did their part in the huge job of rebuilding the city wall. Similarly, the work of the church requires very member's effort in order for the body of Christ to function effectively (1 Corinthians 12:12-27). The body needs you! Are you doing your part? Find a place to serve God and start contributing whatever time, talent, and money is needed.

VERSE OF THE DAY
Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked. – Proverbs 10:6

THOUGHT OF THE DAY
Opportunities abound where opportunities can be found. To want success delivered on a silver platter is a passing wish. To achieve success by working for it, is a dream come true. Working for success puts us on an open highway that opens our eyes and mind to opportunities that help us achieve success. The open highway, which can only be traveled by working, is surrounded by a landscape of opportunities for success. When we work for success, we desire success, when we desire success, we truly believe that we can attain success and we are able to identify opportunities for success. Success comes in many forms, all of which can be achieved through the rewarding process of work, which allows us to travel on *THE ROAD TO SUCCESS*!!!

BIBLICAL QUOTE OF THE DAY
John said, "Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love."---1 John 4:7-8

PROVERB OF THE DAY
The secret of success is constancy to purpose.
Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. ---Prov 4:25

ENCOURAGEMENT
Nothing lowers the level of conversation more than raising the voice.

POINT TO PONDER
Experience is not what happens to a man, it's what a man does with what happens to him.
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. –1 John 5:4

BIBLE STUDY
Subject: Jobs (Effort, Service, Work) Part 6 of 9
How does God want us to view our jobs?

Bible Reading: Nehemiah 3:1-32
Key Bible Verse: Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests, and they builded the sheep gate; they sanctified it, and set up the doors of it; even unto the tower of Meah they sanctified it, unto the tower of Hananeel. –Neh 3:1

Lazy leadership will not be respected. The nobles of Tekoa were lazy and wouldn't help. These men were the only ones who did not support the building project in Jerusalem. Every group, even churches, will have those who think they are too wise or important to work hard. Gentle encouragement doesn't seem to help. Sometimes the best policy is to ignore thm. They may think they are getting away with something, but their inactivity will be remembered by all who worked hard.

VERSE OF THE DAY
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ... –2 Corinthians 10:5

THOUGHT OF THE DAY
Love is perpetual. From the time we are born, throughout our entire lives, love is present. Every human being on earth has an inherent need for love. To give love and to receive love. There are different types of love to be sure. Parental love, spousal love, spiritual love, and more. However, true love, in all its many forms, is everlasting. This means that love requires understanding, patience, sacrifice and a total commitment along the way. Love conquers all, through hill or valley, sunshine or storm, love will see it through. Love that is true transcends time and matures into a *LONG LASTING LOVE*!!!

BIBLICAL QUOTE OF THE DAY
Jesus said, "Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you."---Matt. 5:43-44

BIBLE QUESTION

PROVERB OF THE DAY
Our wisdom is folly unless we’re following Christ.
Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. ---Prov 4:25

ENCOURAGEMENT
The manner in which it is given is worth more than the gift.

POINT TO PONDER
Find out what you love to do and you will never have to work another day in your life.
Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.–Jer 6:16

BIBLE STUDY
Subject: Jobs (Effort, Service, Work) Part 7 of 9
How does God want us to view our jobs?

Bible Reading: Amos 1:1-15
Key Bible Verse: The words of Amos, who was among the herdman of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake. –Amos 1:1

God can use people, even in seemingly insignificant jobs. Amos raised sheep––not a particularly "spiritual" job––yet he became a prophet who proclaimed God's message to others. Your job may not cause you to feel spiritual or successful, but it is a vital work if you are in the place God wants you to be. God can work through you to do extraordinary things, no matter how ordinary your occupation.

VERSE OF THE DAY
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. – Romans 10:4

THOUGHT OF THE DAY
Knowledge becomes valuable through action. There are different types of knowledge that can be learned and applied. Memorizing facts, figures, dates, and places is one type of knowledge. Learning the principles of a particular discipline is another type of knowledge. The value of knowledge grows exponentially when knowledge is put into action. There is literally a universe of knowledge that is available to us, abounding in topics and subjects as numerous as the stars in the evening sky. Knowledge that is acquired and applied, pays handsome dividends, by becoming a *WORKING KNOWLEDGE*!!!

Today: 2 Chronicles 33-34

PROVERB OF THE DAY
The best way to get the last word is to apologize.
Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth. Do this now, my son, deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.---Prov 6:2-3

ENCOURAGEMENT
If you're never scared or embarrassed or hurt, it means you never take any chances (opportunities).

POINT TO PONDER
Show me a person who cannot bother to do little things and I'll show you a person who cannot be trusted to do big things.
His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. –Matt 25:21

BIBLE STUDY
Subject: Jobs (Effort, Service, Work) Part 8 of 9
How does God want us to view our jobs?

Bible Reading: Ephesians 6:5-9
Key Bible Verse: With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: –Eph 6:7

Our work should be marked by integrity. Paul's instructions encourage responsibility and integrity on the job. Christian employees should do their jobs as if Jesus Christ were their supervisor. And Christian employers should treat their employees fairly and with respect. Can you be trusted to do your best, even when the boss is not around? Do you work hard and with enthusiasm? Do you treat your employees as people, not machines? Remember that no matter whom you work for, and no matter who works for you, the one you ultimately should want to please is your father in heaven.

VERSE OF THE DAY
Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace. – Leviticus 10:3

THOUGHT OF THE DAY
On track, on time and feeling fine. Having a schedule, agenda, or itinerary provides us with focus and direction. With a planned direction, the hours, days, months and years, are more productive and pleasant. We accomplish more when we have goals that are written down in the form of a schedule, agenda or itinerary. In addition, a planned direction helps us stay on track, which is a valuable tool that enables us to avoid distractions and deterrents along the way. Like railroad tracks that provide a clear path between two points, having direction provides us with a connection to reach our goals. One of the best ways to stay on track, be on time, and to feel fine, is with the powerful combination of *DIRECTION AND CONNECTION*!!!

Paul said, "And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness."---Col. 3:14

How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? ---Prov 6:9

ENCOURAGEMENT
Fear is the opportunity for courage, not proof of cowardice.

POINT TO PONDER
Waste no more time arguing what a good man should be. Be one.
Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. –1 Tim 4:12

BIBLE STUDY
Subject: Jobs (Effort, Service, Work) Part 9 of 9

Bible Reading: Colossians 3:1-17
Key Bible Verse: And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. –Col 3:17

Everything we do should honor Christ. Doing everything "as a representative of the Lord Jesus" means bringing honor to Christ in every aspect and activity of daily living. As a Christian, you represent Christ at all times–wherever you go and whatever you say. What impression do people have of Christ when they see or talk with you? What changes would you make in your life in order to honor Christ?

VERSE OF THE DAY
The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined. – Psalm 10:2

THOUGHT OF THE DAY
It's great to get away and it's always good to return home. Home is our home base, our castle, our security, our safe haven. Typically, our home is a reflection of our personality, a place and space where we can be ourselves in surroundings that are comfy and cozy. Coming home after a full day's work, or a vacation holiday, gives of peace of mind and a sense of security. A house, apartment, condominium, townhouse, mobile home, recreational vehicle, are some examples of where a home can be established. Wherever it is, a home can be the source of peaceful security and many benefits, especially when it's a *HAPPY HOME*!!!

Joy grows out of real worship. Worship involves both celebration and confession. But in Israel's national holidays (Holy Days and observances), the balance seems heavily tipped in favor of celebration. The God of the Bible encourages joy! God does not intend for religion to be only meditation and introspection. He also wants us to celebrate. Serious reflection and immediate confession of sin are essential, of course. But these should be balanced by celebrating who God is and what He has done for His people.
