Purpose:   Guidelines and suggestions to consider when purchasing your own church building for your local ICG church.

printer-friendly version

In the past, larger congregations which had the budget and/or local benefactors, purchased their own buildings. Add to these the fact that your rent money is going for a hard church asset instead of going to a landlord.

General Guidelines:

  • Building meets the present and foreseeable future needs, as well as, missions & goals of the local church

  • Good location to serve the congregation

  • Safe location

  • Building is securable

  • Maintenance of building is within means of budget

  • Consult with a lawyer familiar with real estate law before purchasing the building

  • Personally inspect the building or have it professionally inspected to insure against defects

If you have had experience purchasing a building for your local church, contact us and share your ideas, suggestions, or experience with us.

Note:  No information, procedures or instructions in the Resource section are to be considered as church policy or directives.  The Resource section offers suggestions and  information to aid you in your own decision making process.
