“In 2008 the Intercontinental Church of God (Australia) will be observing the Feast of Tabernacles from 14 October to 21 October at a new site on Port Stephens, New South Wales. The new site, located at Shoal Bay, near to the Heads of Port Stephens, is the Shoal Bay Holiday Park. The location of the Holiday Park is accurately described from it's own website as below:

http://www.beachsideholidays.com.au/shoalBay.phtml

"Directly opposite one of the most beautiful beaches on the east coast of Australia, Shoal Bay Holiday Park is ideal for short breaks or an extended stay.

The gentle aquamarine waters and the clean white sand of Shoal Bay provide a perfect swimming beach that the kids love and, within just two minutes walk you find the picture postcard village of Shoal Bay with cafes, shops, restaurants and clubs".

The Shoal Bay Holiday Park is one of several operated by the Port Stephens Local Council and includes a very attractive conference centre that we will be using for the Feast.

There is a range of cabin accommodation at the Park as well as powered caravan sites. The Feast in 2008 commences a few days after school holidays conclude so that it falls in a period called the "High" season on the "Rates" page of the Park's website. Depending on the cabin class chosen, rates for the eight days are likely to range from $1100 for the top "Outrigger" cabins to $500 for the "Safari Bungalows". Powered caravan site will be around $400 (with ensuite facility at the site) and $250 for a straight powered sites. Official rates will not be published for this period till early 2008. Bookings can be made at any time and should be made early as this is a popular location. There may be a prospect of obtaining a discount on the accommodation when booking if you mention you are attending the ICG conference. It won’t hurt to ask.

As well as onsite accommodation there is a great deal of “off site” accommodation available, often for very competitive prices. There are accommodation web sites on this page.

The Feast in 2008 will feature fine sermons from GTA and other speakers. We will have a number of the activities available again that have featured in past years and proved popular. Anyone choosing to stay at the Feast site Holiday Park may however find it difficult to venture further than the beautiful Shoal Bay Beach just across the road!

We look forward to seeing everyone there and welcoming overseas visitors and new attendees."

For those new to the truth of God's Holy Days and the Feast in particular there are a number of helpful audio sermons and booklets available. Please feel free to request  the audio sermon  "The First Great Edict" or see it here and the booklets " How Seasonal Holy Days Reveal God's Plan " and " Why God Commands Our Presence At His Feast ".  Both booklets are on the website.

Please advise your intent to attend to help us with planning.

Shoal Bay on Port Stephens is supposedly named by Governor Lachlan Macquarie because of the sand shoals that exist there. During WWII, Tomaree Head became a strategic military coastal defence post. Thousands of American and Australian troops trained here for amphibious landings in the South Pacific. In 1949 the Department of Health purchased land and buildings from the Department of Defence for the establishment of Tomaree Lodge, a facility for intellectually disabled people.

Shoal Bay has now become a busy little Mid North Coast NSW tourist mecca with hotels, shops and restaurants fringing the beautiful beach. A great place for families to visit. At the eastern end of Shoal Bay lies Tomaree Head and a short (but steep) bush walk will take you to a viewing platform at the top for magnificent views over Port Stephens. You can see as far as Seal Rocks in the north and Newcastle in the south (about 50 kilometres in each direction)! You can often spot migrating humpback whales during season.
