Many people consider this California location the most beautiful place in the world. If you like the mountains, clean air, pure irresistible streams and splendid lake scenery, you have to like the Kings Beach area. Favored by hundreds of thousands of annual visitors, this vacation destination lends itself to a wonderful Feast of Tabernacles celebration. Rich in colorful mining history and Western folklore, the Lake Tahoe area was fascinating to many of our early writers and novelists. Representative is Mark Twains description of the area when around 1862 he set out by foot from Carson City to Lake Tahoe. He wrote that over mountains "a thousand miles high" he plodded until at last he reached his goal. "As it lay there," he wrote, "with the shadows of the mountains brilliantly photographed upon its still surface, I thought it must surely be the fairest picture the whole earth affords."

For its immense size and 6,200 foot elevation, Tahoe is reputed to be the purest body
of water in the world. The clarity of the lake dazzles visitors who gaze through many
fathoms of water at objects far below on the sandy bottom. Seventy-three miles of highway
ring this pristine gem with enough wonders along the way to fill anyones itinerary. The lake is only an hours drive from Reno via U.S. Highway 395 South and Mt. Rose Highway or Carson City cutoff. It can also be reached from Interstate 80 West From Reno, via Truckee. Once you discover "The Lake" youll remember it forever. Lake Tahoe is a deep blue reflection of the spectacular Sierra Nevada mountains around it. Not only is it one of the worlds largest, clearest, and most beautiful alpine lakes, its also one of natures wonders. Stroll along a shoreline path, or bicycle across a mountain-high pass. There are miles of wilderness just waiting to he explored. Kings Beach, located on the California side (1 1/2 miles west of the Nevada border), is on the north shore of Lake Tahoe. Within the community there are a variety of motels/condominiums offering suitable lodging for the eight days of the Feast of Tabernacles. From luxurious lake-front homes, complete with their own private marina, to rustic cabins and charming chalets, accommodations are available to suite all tastes and price ranges. A word might also be added about the number of fine eateries in this area. From five star to affordable buffets, Lake Tahoe restaurants feature a selection of cuisine including Swiss, French, Italian, Chinese and California Nouvelle. Enjoy dining with panoramic views in elegant lake front or mountaintop restaurants or take a gourmet picnic to Tahoes sandy shores. Whatever you choose to do, youre sure to enjoy it! When making arrangements for your lodging, you may want to consider making your
reservations at a facility within a reasonable distance of the North Tahoe Conference
Center. This meeting facility is located at 8318 North Lake Blvd., Kings Beach,
California. The North Tahoe Conference Center contains suitable meeting space for our
festival services. Located on the north shore of Lake Tahoe, youll find the
conference center convenient and easily accessible. Visit Emerald Bay Nestled in the southwest corner of Lake Tahoe, this blue-green jewel of water, with tiny Fanette Island floating in the middle, is one of the most photographed spots on the earth. The bay by itself is surrounded by regal Sierra peak out of which tumbles spectacular Eagle Falls. For the hiker, one footpath leads up to the base of Eagle Falls, where another leads down the steep slopes to Vikingsholm. This massive stone castle was built in the 1920s by millionairess, Lisa Knight. Complete with turrets, towers and antiques, the 38-room mansion is perhaps the finest example of Scandinavian architecture in North America. Lake Cruises For a close-up look at Lake Tahoe, you have your choice
of a stylish old stern wheeler, an authentic paddle wheeler or a shore-hugging cruise
boat. The M.S. Dixie leaves from Zephyr Cove, the Tahoe Queen offers tours from South Lake
Tahoe and the Sunrunner tours out of North Lake Tahoe. These passenger cruises offer
romance, legends and adventure complete with dining, drinking and live music.
