Following are the simple rules for Bible Bowl 2008 – Kings Beach/Lake Tahoe
Elements:
---one host…..reads the questions and declares if answer is correct or not.
---one judge…determines what team responded first to the question.
---one scorekeeper…..keeps accurate score.
---100 simple Bible questions.
Mostly new questions this year.
---paddle for each team member [stick with red circle]. Must be used to
be recognized.
---NEW THIS YEAR - Rather
than tables, each team will be seated in tight, six-chair circles to make it
easier for the judge and so team members can easily consult with each other on
the answers.
Winning Team: At the end of the evening, the team with the most positive
points wins. Winning team members [up to 6] receive a 2009 Tahoe
Calendar and $40 in raffle tickets.
Procedure and Rules:
---For the first 50 questions of the evening:
1------host will read a question.
2------first team to respond [by raising paddle] is recognized by judge
at which time they may utter an answer. Important: Only one
answer may be uttered. If your answer is declared “wrong” do not utter any
other answer. Each team receives one and only one opportunity to answer any
given question.
3------at the moment a team is recognized all paddles in the room must go down
and stay down until rule 5 takes place.
4------the host will declare answer “right” or “wrong.”
5------at the instant the host utters “wrong” all other teams may respond with
their paddles and be recognized and the above procedures repeated.
6------any team member may raise his or her paddle any time during reading of
question. Team is recognized and gives its answer. However if the question is
not fully uttered, the host will then give the question a full reading THEN
declare the answer “right” or “wrong”. This way everyone hears the full text of
the question.
7------For all correct answers a team receives one [1] point.
8------For all wrong answers no penalty is given.
---For the second 50 questions of the evening:
9------All procedures except the last line apply.
10------At any time, if a team utters a wrong answer, they receive one negative
point to their tally.
11------Final
scores for the evening will be the total of positive answers [points]
minus the total of negative answers [points]. Example: If, at the end
of the evening, a team has correctly answered 25 questions and given 5 wrong
answers, their total end score for the evening is 20 points.
