Unleavened Bread recipes

Crispy Date Bars

1 C flour
1/2 C brown sugar
1/2 C soft butter
1 C chopped dates
1 /2 C sugar
1/2 C butter
1 egg beaten
2 C crispy rice cereal
1 C chopped nuts
1 t vanilla
1/2 t vanilla
2 C powdered sugar
3 oz soft cream cheese
Combine first 3 ingredients, press into 11 "x7" or 9" square pan. Bake at 375� to 12 minutes till golden brown. In medium saucepan, combine date, sugar and butter. Cook over low heat till mixture comes to a boil, stirring constantly. Simmer 3 minutes. Blend about 1/4 cup hot mixture into 1 beaten egg. Return to sauce pan. Cook until mixture bubbles. Remove from heat. Stir in 2 cups crispy rice cereal, 1 cup of chopped nuts and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Spread over baked crust and cool. Combine powdered sugar, vanilla and cream cheese, beat on low speed until smooth. Spread over cooled filling. Cut into bars.
