How To Use This Document

This document was designed for the Church Locator Office, which is a sub-division of the ICG Web Site Office.  The purpose of this document is to 1. Ascertain where the person asking for a local church lives.  2) to ascertain the closest ICG church or fellowship group.  Once these two facts are gathered, we can go to the Cut and Paste Church Information Database (The Response Database) document and sent the person the information he or she seeks.

I recommend that anyone doing this job obtain a Mapquest.com Road Atlas (hard copy).  It is designed to work hand-in-hand with a certain portion of the Mapquest.com web site.  Each map in the Road Atlas and even the inset maps have a key number.  You can type this key number into a special window at the Mapquest site and immediately get the map that matches the page in the Atlas.  Even better, the site has search windows for Address, City, Zip Code and even phone Area Code.  Simply put this information in the search window and get a map.  We should be able to find approximately 100% of our information from this site.  Even so, you will find a grid of other sources on each map page.

This document has a map of every state, Canadian province and country where we have church towns.  Various indicators (in red) are used (red boxes, lines or dots).  Each State map, where we have an ICG church, you will see a list of all states, provinces or countries where we possibly have other ICG churches.  Simple click on any of those entries and go to that state map.  This document is full of navigation buttons to go from one place to another.

To find a map by key number (as found in the hardcopy of the Mapquest Road Atlas AND throughout this document):

  1. Make note of the Key number.  I have these listed at each state map and Canadian province.
  2. Go here on the Internet: http://www.mapquest.com/maps/roadatlas.adp
  3. Type in the Key number and you will get your map.

Following are the links to the search windows at Mapquest as described above:

Search by Address:  http://www.mapquest.com/maps/main.adp  Click on button, “Big Map”

Search by City:  http://www.mapquest.com/maps/city.adp  Click on button, “Big Map”

Search by Zip Code:  http://www.mapquest.com/maps/zipcode.adp  Click on button, “Big Map”

Search by Phone Area Code:  http://www.mapquest.com/maps/areacode.adp  Click on button, “Big Map”

These links are posted on each map page in this document (except for a couple of foreign locations).

So:

1)      Find where the person is.

2)      Find the closest church.

E-mail the person the information from the Cut and Paste database.

B) Select his e-mail address and copy it and paste it in the To: line of the e-mail.
C) In the Subject line type: “Your Request for Local Church Information”

Step Three:  Go to the Map Database

This Database is on the Internet at this location: http://www.intercontinentalcog.org/cgi-bin/Churchlocator/Church_Locator_Map_Database.shtml

Find out where this person is located.

The Map Database is full of resources to aid you in finding where this person is.

Once you find the nearest ICG church or find there is none near him, go to Step 4.

Step Four:  Go to the Response Database

This document is in hardcopy only.

There is a response for each ICG church town in the World.

There is also one for each area or country stating there is no ICG church near him or her.  There are ones for Norway, UK, Australia and one for the World.  There is one for each Area in the US.

The Response Database is divided into 2 parts:

Database One is for situations where you have discovered there is no church near them.

Database Two is where you find a pre-typed response for every ICG church in the World.

One exception:  Australia.  For all Church Near Me request you receive for Australia, send them to Murray Allatt at murray139@ozemail.com .  The Web Site Office will do this for you, but some might get by me.

Once you find the text you need for this person, select it, Copy it and return to the e-mail and paste it in below the person’s address.  The body of the e-mail will look like this:

Dear John Smith
2700 S Elm Street
west covina
CA
91792-1620
